“Education is an investment and not an expense. In partnership with Achieve Miami, Helios is proud to invest in the potential of Miami-Dade students by ensuring they are prepared for success in postsecondary education.”  – Paul J. Luna, President and CEO of Helios Education Foundation

Achieve Miami is thrilled to announce our new partnership with Helios Education Foundation! Their million dollar gift will help us expand our high school college readiness programs and evaluate the impact of Achieve Miami programming on both our elementary and high school students.

Since 2015, Achieve Miami has provided meaningful after-school, Saturday, and Summer programs to extend and enrich learning opportunities for underserved elementary and high school students. One focus of the 2020-2021 school year has been to expand the reach and depth of our high school programs. Through our reimagined programs, we seek to support and empower the next generation of social impact leaders by providing a diverse group of students with meaningful service, leadership, and college readiness opportunities.

To reach this goal, Achieve Miami has partnered with Helios Education Foundation and a number of other committed funders including the Al & Janie Nahmad Family Foundation and The Kirk Foundation to launch both The Achieve Club (a service, leadership, and college readiness opportunity open to all high school students grades 9-12 throughout Miami-Dade) and the Achieve Scholars program (an intensive, selective college program for high school seniors). Interested students can learn more about these programs at www.achievemiami.org/highschool.

“Part of our mission at Achieve Miami is to both support our students in their educational journeys while evaluating the impact of our programming so that we and others can learn from our efforts and increase our impact,” shares Sarah Emmons, Executive Director of Achieve Miami. “We’re so grateful to have Helios as both a funding and thought partner to help advance our work and support our students in becoming the leaders of tomorrow.”

Beginning this school year, Achieve Miami will increase our focus on evaluating the impact of our work across our organization. Through our partnership with Helios and the University of Miami School of Education and Human Development, we have developed an implementation plan and corresponding evaluation strategy that will allow us to more effectively assess our impact, determine areas for growth, and also share our lessons learned with  the broader college readiness community. Achieve Miami is incredibly grateful for the support of the Helios Education Foundation as well as our other funding contributors who have supported our work over the years.
